Being Heard at HispanicVision.org – a Bipartisan Effort
April 6, 2008
Press Release
This past Friday on PBS’ political talk show, “Florida this Week,” one of the founders of Hispanic Vision Forum announce the launch of the website, www.HispanicVision.org. According to the Center for Hispanic Marketing Communication at F.S.U., 65% of the Hispanic population are online, making this website an essential interactive tool (with blogs and polls) allowing Hispanics in the state of Florida to contribute their views, ideas and visions in regards to politics.
This in one of three types of dialogue Hispanic Vision Forum makes available. The founders, Angelette Aviles, a Republican and Evelyn Hale, a Democrat, have joined forces to also implement HVF in public forums in the form of focus groups and on YouTube (perhaps TV). The forums will include topics of discussions, observations and comments from the public, political insides and public officials and is open to non-Hispanics as this is a source of knowledge to enhance the understanding of the diverse mindset of Latinos.
With their experience in their individual marketing and public affairs/relations firms, they realized that Corporate America is more aware on how to communicate their message to Hispanics, however in the political arena there is not a clear understanding. These two Latinas believe that this misunderstanding is one of several reasons why Hispanics sway their votes. At the same time, through HVF, Angelette and Evelyn are reaching to the Hispanic community by encouraging them to take advantage of the political spotlight they are in. Although Hispanics are expected to be the voting bloc that determines the next President, they are the least likely to register to vote or come out to vote.
